Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Welcome to a new school year at NKS. We have been delighted to say hello to all of our new starters and have been amazed at how well the Apple Class children have settled in. The first week of school is exhausting and I am sure everyone is very tired, but I hope very happy too.  I know we are.

This week, the joy of seeing the children coming to school for a new school year has been tinged with sadness as we learned about the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II yesterday. 

We have addressed this in an age-appropriate way at school today and have answered sensitively any questions the children may have had. In our Friday assembly, we talked about the Queen’s reign and used the book Goodbye Mog by Judith Kerr to help the children understand loss. We will, of course, continue to help the children comprehend this momentous event in our nation’s history over the coming weeks.
