Built in 1961 our school serves the northern area of Kidlington and the outlying communities to the north. We are incredibly proud of our school and there are many aspects which we feel make us stand out from other primary schools. For example, we have over 120 Chromebooks and 30 iPads which means we are able to integrate computing into all of our lessons to better reflect the world we live in. We believe in the positive physical and mental aspects of sport to teach children determination, perseverance, pride and how to live a healthy life (we have achieved the school games platinum award). We think children need to learn practical skills along with academic achievement, so in our design and technology classes, children as young as 5 learn how to use a saw and a drill and we believe in reading as a life-long passion: children have a comprehensive phonics education at North Kidlington school but they also enjoy reading and listening to a variety of high-quality texts throughout their time with us.
An open and trusting relationship between the school and home is essential if a child is to thrive at school, and we encourage parents to take an active interest in their child’s education. We strive to create an atmosphere where children feel secure yet challenged. At North Kidlington School we aim:
to provide a high standard of learning and stimulate children’s interests
to help children to become independent lifelong learners and good citizens
to ensure that all children achieve their full potential
In our most recent OFSTED visit in May 2024, North Kidlington School maintained its grading of good in all areas inspected. It was noted how pupils look forward to their lessons. They enjoy a wide range of trips and experiences that help to bring learning to life. Also each pupil receives recorder lessons for four years and performs in school concerts. Parents and carers confirmed how happy their children are at the school and how well the staff know their children. They appreciate the warm welcome they receive from staff, who are at the school gate every morning. They feel NKS forms strong relationships with the families in their community. All parents who responded to the Ofsted online questionnaire, Parent View, would recommend the school.
Everyone was delighted with the Inspection report and we are now working hard to make further improvements.
Best wishes.
