School Council visit Activate Learning

We had a super start to the week at NKS with a visit to Activate Learning’s City of Oxford College to meet with the BA Furniture Design and Make students.  A couple of months ago, the students had been to visit NKS to talk with our School Council children about what makes a super school bench and this had then formed the basis for one of their degree projects.

Our school council were given a tour of the furniture making building and then were shown the models of the benches – which were amazing! This bit was especially exciting as the children were given the opportunity to chat with the students about their deigns and even evaluate them.

It was a hugely rewarding experience and we were blown away by the work the students had done. We also had lots of fun looking at all the machinery there and even got to use some of it! We now have 2 super coat racks ready to be put in the library when it is finished.
