FONKS

FoNKS (Friends of North Kidlington School) are a small but willing group of parents/carers and teachers who support the school by encouraging closer links between home and school.

WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT OUR PTA, “FONKS” (Friends of North Kidlington School)?

Our primary aim is to organise a wide range of social and fundraising activities to enhance our children’s enjoyment and learning experience at school.
We fundraise to provide extra equipment, coach fares, etc for our children at the school.  If you would like to receive regular e-mail updates from the FoNKS committee, and/or you would like to join the friendly group of parent/grandparent/carer/teacher/TA volunteers who help at events, please send your e-mail address, your name and your child/children’s names to: fonkspta@gmail.com.

All parents/carers and teachers of North Kidlington School are automatically entitled to join as a FoNK.

We hold our annual general meeting in September, at the start of the school year. At this meeting a committee is elected to run FoNKS, this usually consists of a chair (a role which can be co-shared), a treasurer, a secretary and ordinary committee members.

We usually meet once a month to discuss forthcoming events and new ‘fundraising ideas’.

How is money raised?

We aim to hold events each school term for example, Disco/Film Night in the Autumn, Christmas Fayre/Shopping Evening in the Winter, Quiz/Bingo Evening in the Spring and our Summer Fayre in June.

Other events running throughout the year include Cake Sales, Bag-2-School, Coffee Mornings, we also organize refreshments and run raffles when the Drama Production takes place in the Spring term

How is the money spent?

We, as FoNKS committee members and our Headteacher decide how to spend the funds raised.  Funds raised by the FoNKS provide much needed ‘extra’ resources not already provided by the school’s main income – often ‘fun things’ that make learning more interesting and exciting, i.e. provision of travel allowance for each class trip, ‘new’ sports equipment i.e. football kits, computers, large playground equipment, a much needed new school stage, funding for a ‘traveling pantomime’, CD player, Wii and play vehicle.

Our aim is to provide ‘extras’ that are accessible for the whole school in order to maximize our children’s enjoyment and enhance their learning experience at North Kidlington School.

How can I be involved in FoNKS?

There are many different ways you can help with FoNKS, whether you have lots of time to offer or not. If you cannot make a regular commitment then look out for small events that you can support us with (eg running a stall at the summer fair, baking for a cake sale, helping to sell raffle tickets at the school productions or refreshments at the school disco), of course you can always support FoNKS events by simply turning up!

We welcome new members and ‘fundraising’ ideas, if you would like to come along and meet other parents we would love to see you!  If you want to join us then please leave us a message at the school office telling us your name, your child/children’s name and their class/classes and how we can contact you (e-mail or telephone number).
