Years 3 and 4

Summer Term - Cedar, Chestnut & Willow

Welcome back to this warm and sunny start to the summer term!

This term our topic work will take us even further back in time to the Roman invasion of Britain and the legacy of the Romans in Britain today. We will be finding out about the Roman Empire and what life was like during this period. Our topic work will also inspire our artwork and will link across other areas of the curriculum.

We will also be offering children the opportunity to join a lower junior trip to the Roman Villa at Chedworth near Cirencester on Wednesday 13th June look out for more information to follow.

Our PE days this term are Wednesday and Thursdays. Please remind your child that we do not have unlimited amounts of spare kits so they need their own PE kits and these must be brought in on Mondays and left in school for the week. In view of our changeable weather, please also ensure that items of kit are suitable for all weather conditions.  In very hot weather it is essential that children have sun cream applied before school, a sun hat and water bottle.

If you are able to offer help or support in the Lower Juniors then please let Mrs Hull, Mrs Preston, Mrs Harvey or Mr Hunter know. In the meantime, we would like to invite parents of year 3 and 4 to come into school to share reading or maths activities with the children on the following dates:

Stay and Read morning: Thursday 26th April 8.45- 9.15 a.m-

Please feel free to come in to your child’s class to share a book of their choice.

Stay and Maths: Tuesday 22nd May 8.45-9.30 a.m

Year 3 focus will be addition (Mrs Hull and Mrs Harvey)

Year 4 focus will be multiplication and division (Mrs Ling and Mr Hunter)

For the maths sessions the children will be working independently on some short problems and it will be a chance for parents to see the methods used in class.
